COMPETITION AWARDS
When you grow up working with your 3 brothers on roofing job sites, you find a way to implement some healthy rivalry! In recent years, the owner of Riverside Roofing, Bernie Vlietstra, and his brothers have entered in roofing competitions across Canada, against hundreds of other skilled roofers. These competitions take place in large convention centres and warehouses, where people can buy tickets to watch. A series of small, shed-like roofs are set up for the competition, where skilled contenders must compete by the stripping the old shingles off and installing new ones on. You are judged based on quality and speed. If you have a high speed, but your craftsmanship is lacking, you are deducted points.
Bernie Vlietstra has won dozens of awards at these competitions, but in past 3 years, he won the entire championship twice! Check out the photos from when he was dubbed "Grand Master Roofer" for 2018 and 2020.
ABOUT US
My name is Bernie Vlietstra and I am the Owner & Operator of Riverside Roofing, which I co-own with my wife. I complete the roofing services with my crew and she takes care of the office administration and marketing. I grew up in the roofing industry from a young age. My father was the founder of a successful roofing business in Brant County, which he later sold to my two older brothers. Along with roofing craftsmanship, our father also taught us that honesty and integrity in business are traits of a real man.
I was blessed to have worked for my brothers for over 13 years and can say I truly learned from the best! Although I knew I was going to miss working with them very much, I decided to start my own roofing venture called Riverside Roofing. I specialize in new homes, custom homes and re-roofing. I have worked with many different types of roofing products: shingles, cedar shakes, flat roofing, steel and more. High quality craftsmanship is something I take very seriously and pride myself on doing the best job I can, no matter what!
